COMING SOON: The Retreat Women's In-Patient Treatment Facility.
Founded in 2012 by Terri Schaffner, CEO and Clinical Director, Active Recovery, LLC offers a comprehensive, intensive outpatient program for individuals dealing with addiction. Terri’s vision and leadership created a program that moves away from the traditional 12-step model, embracing a non-judgmental and refreshing perspective focused on individualized healing.
We offer up to three phases of treatment, extending up to one year, to support clients in achieving long-term recovery. Our structured yet flexible model allows clients to progress at a pace that aligns with their personal goals and healing process.
At Active Recovery, we believe that recovery is a journey, not a destination, and we applaud progress—not perfection.
We are committed to supporting adults on their journey of recovery and personal transformation after addiction. Our mission is to develop and sustain Recovery Programs for individuals affected by substance abuse disorders while actively working to reduce the stigma surrounding addiction. Through collaboration and community education, we seek to change public perception of this disease and promote hope and healing.

Surrounded by Spanish moss, cypress trees, and natural beauty, this serene setting promotes mindfulness, reflection, and healing.
This 28-day program is designed for women seeking recovery from:
• Substance Abuse
• Trauma
• Domestic Violence
• Mental and Emotional Health Challenges
The Retreat blends evidence-based treatment with holistic healing and creative therapies, including:
• Daily group therapy (twice per day)
• Meditation, yoga, and mindfulness practices
• Weekend therapeutic arts workshops
• Outdoor activities: kayaking, fishing, and nature trail exploration
• Gardening in our Healing Garden
• Life skills, goal setting and budgeting.
The Retreat houses guests in The Lakehouse, an eight-bed dormitory equipped with a kitchenette, two full bathrooms, and a counselor’s office. Nursing staff are onsite, and medication management is overseen by a psychiatric nurse practitioner.
The Retreat accepts all Medicaid insurance and most commercial plans.
